Measures and Indicators of MID

How can we know if we are making progress toward minimum impact development?

Maureen Hart and Vesela Veleva of Sustainable Measures, Inc. (www.sustainablemeasures.com) have developed a matrix of indicators of minimum impact development at six scales in each of ten categories related to environmental quality of life.

Click here to view the indicator matrix.

Click on the specific scale to see the indicator details:

    1.  state
  2.  region
  3.  community
  4.  neighborhood
  5.  site, and
  6.  building

These indictors are provided in an effort to begin measuring progress toward good development, and also to help build dialogues among development professionals and within the communities working to shape their future.

It is our hope the example measures will help you evaluate sites, a communities, and/or landscapes.
